I work in a business park, when I’m not working from home(it’s not as bad as it sounds) and around 1/3 of the office buildings in the park are empty, some of them for years. Parking space, however, is at a premium. Cars double park, sometimes triple park, on a daily basis. Everyone blocks everyone else in and leaves their name/reg with their reception, then they have to run out and move their cars when their slightly agitated colleagues want to go for lunch or go home. It’s a mess and a daily annoyance.
So here’s my blindingly obvious business idea. Gut an office and build a multi story car park with low daily rates. Seriously. Why has no-one done it? Surely a moderate income from hundreds of happily parked cars, has to be better then leaving an entire building empty for years on end? With 1/3 third of the buildings going to waste, it’s not as if the office space is needed.
I could be a millionaire. Bah.
