Ready Player One
The film, which was released in 2018 by director Steven Spielberg, has a unique story. The virtual world called OASIS is the only place that feels very comfortable. Because the real world conditions in 2045 are considered uncomfortable and harsh. At OASIS, anyone can go anywhere, do anything, and be anyone. The only limitation is the individual’s own will.
This new virtual world or OASIS was created by Jim Halliday (played by Mark Rylance), a very genius figure. This film is called satirizing people out there who are happy with the presence and development of the digital space. One very good message taken from this film is that the person in the real world is much more important than their character in the virtual world. No matter how great one’s avatar in the OASIS was, it wouldn’t help much in the original world.
Blade Runner 2049
The sequel to Blade Runner (1982) is Blade Runner 2049, released in 2017, 35 years after the first film premiered. Launching Sindonews (Friday, October 6, 2017), the film, directed by Dennis Villeneuve, depicts a world filled with replicants, or genetically engineered humans.
In the year 2049, there is a blackout on earth. A large company called Tyrell Corporation stopped production of its replicas due to bankruptcy. Meanwhile, there was another big company called Wallace Corporation which created a new replica that was better and more obedient. One of the replicas that Wallace created was detective KD6-3.7 or K (played by Ryan Gosling). K gets the task and orders to find the old replica and destroy it.
The adventures of characters in the virtual world are also told in the film Tron: Legacy, directed by Joseph Kosinski, which was released in 2010. Tron: Legacy tells the story of a leader of ENCOM International, Kevin Flynn (played by Jeff Bridges), who disappeared without a trace in 1989. ENCOM International is a well-known computer technology company from the United States (US).
About 20 years later, Kevin’s son, Sam (Garret Hedlund) is thrown into a virtual world called his father’s Grid. Sam goes on an exciting adventure there, by battling Rinzler, a masked program.
